Visit Scremerston Gun Emplacement on Heritage Open Day Saturday! The WWII concrete structure will be humming with activity as we showcase the work and research carried out here over the past year. 11am - 3pm, Scremerston Gun Emplacement, Cocklawburn Beach, near Scremerston.

Find out more about the history of this World War II structure that sits on the former site of a battery of lime kilns, above the dunes of Cocklawburn Beach. Over the past year as part of a wider Military Defences project, volunteers with the Peregrini Lindisfarne Landscape Partnership have cleared this structure of rubbish and debris, removed graffiti, and looked into its story.

This research into how the gun emplacement would have operated will be presented in a variety of ways including guided walks, informal talks, large-scale illustrations of the gun housed here and WWII refreshments!

Come along to find out more - Heritage Open Day Saturday, 11am - 3pm

Please note ample parking can be found on the road that runs up towards the gun emplacement. It is recommended that you leave your car at the designated parking and walk to the gun emplacement rather than tackle the huge potholes towards the bottom of the road.
